Death with its mouth finally closed!
In my previous post, I had mentioned how there was an open manhole near the Mahadevapura Junction and my plan of writing to the authorities and the media.
Well, I did write to the authorities but as expected, I didn't get any reply from them. I then wrote to Times of India and as expected, they published my report in their 'My Times, My Voice' section on Friday, April 20. Here's the news clip they published:
On the same Friday evening, on my way back home, this is what I found:

Here's a closer view:

Is this awesome or what??? The manhole was closed the very day the article was published on Times of India!
Makes you wonder if the authorities only work if they're humiliated. If that's what they want, that's what they'll get!

Awesome buddy. Good work. I wish more people would take a bit of initiative.
@hawkeye: Thanks man. Yeah, I wish too, that more people would take initiatives like this. Actually, did you get a chance to talk to Silkboard/Pranav about the project we're all into? Let me know if you'd like to join in. We can all make a difference!

@Vidya: Wow, thanks!!! I think that's the best compliment I've ever received about my blog. Thanks for the encouragement. I wish I could do more regarding the road etc in Bangalore but I've been so badly held up with work lately that I'm unable to find time. Hopefully things will get better and I can resume my adventures. Keep coming back to this blog :-)

Cool Nisho. What if TOI published two pages full of such photos everyday? Or what if there was a paper only with letters from concerned ppl like us!?
:)
Nice job bro! Looks like the authorities do read their newspapers ;)
@Silkboard and Chrisvasa: Thanks, guys! The media should adopt the practice of publishing photos of the offending contractor/local authority etc, and only then will they do their work well. I was told this was the practice in a few western countries.
What the f*** was the above?? Why dont you delete this crap?
@Hawkeye: Thanks man. Didn't notice it was there. Deleted now :-)
So howz things going with you. I don't see any new posts on your blog.
